CASTLETON, Vt. – Seniors
Brendan Doyle (Stratham, N.H.) and
Will Redick (Collingwood, Ontario) registered third-period tallies as Plymouth State University scored three unanswered goals to rally past Vermont State University Castleton, 4-2, in a Little East Conference (LEC) men's ice hockey game at Spartan Arena on Saturday evening.
Freshman
Tucker Shedd (Holt, Mich.) netted his first collegiate goal midway through the opening period, but the Spartans tied the game late in the frame. The hosts went in front with a power-play tally early in the second, but junior
Andrew Stuckless (Conception Bay South, Newfoundland) potted the equalizer with 8:11 on the clock and the game remained deadlocked at 2-2 heading into the final stanza.
Doyle put the Panthers back in front at 6:03 of the third, and Redick poked the puck loose from a defender for an empty-net insurance goal with just over a minute to play to secure the Panthers' first win of the season.
Plymouth State improves to 1-3-0 (1-1-0 LEC), while VTSU Castleton slips to 1-2-1 (1-1-0 LEC).
