WB: Malozzi leads Panthers to best start in 15 years, named Athlete of the Month

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Senior forward Hailey Malozzi (Maynard, Mass.) has been named the PSU Female Athlete of the Month for November, sponsored by the New Hampshire Army National Guard, after leading the Panther women's basketball team to a 6-1 start, the program's best opening month since the 2010-11 season.

Malozzi was the engine of PSU's offense throughout an unbeaten 5-0 stretch to begin the year, averaging 13.9 points and 6.4 rebounds while shooting an impressive 50.8% from the floor and 80.6% at the line. She reached double figures in five games and posted three performances of 16 points or more, establishing herself as one of the most consistent scoring threats in the Little East Conference (LEC) early in the season.

She opened the year with a dominant statement at the Terriers Tip-off Classic at Thomas College on Nov. 8, torching Saint Joseph's of Maine for 23 points and 11 rebounds on 7-of-12 shooting, including a 3-for-5 effort from beyond the arc and a perfect 6-for-6 mark at the line. Malozzi followed with another strong showing the next afternoon, powering PSU past Elms with seven points and eight rebounds to help secure the tournament sweep.

Malozzi continued her hot start on the road at VTSU Johnson on Nov. 11, dropping 12 points and adding six rebounds and two steals in a 73-52 win. She remained a driving force during PSU's homestand as well, pouring in 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting in a 78-69 victory over Norwich on Nov. 14.

She delivered another standout effort on Nov. 18 in a win over VTSU Lyndon, scoring 16 points while grabbing six boards and swiping a season-best four steals as the Panthers pushed their record to 5-0.

Even in PSU's lone loss of the month, Malozzi remained productive, posting 12 points, six rebounds and three steals against New England College on Nov. 20. She closed the month with nine points in limited minutes as the Panthers rebounded with a 68-56 road win at Rivier on Nov. 25.

Plymouth State (7-2, 0-1 LEC) travels to WestConn on Saturday (Dec. 13) for a 1 p.m. matchup with the Wolves in the final contest of the calendar year.
