BOSTON, Mass. – Freshman
Ty Shipmon (Yonkers, N.Y.) obliterated his own record as a half-dozen members of the Plymouth State University indoor track & field team competed at the Showdown at the Heights hosted by Boston College at the TRACK at new balance on Friday.
Shipmon led the Panthers in the 200-meters when he placed inside the top 25 and blazed to a new program record time of 22.83 seconds. He had previously set the mark in the first meet of the season. He also appeared in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.21 seconds.
On the women's side, senior
Paige Hurst (Pelham, N.H.) took 14th in the 400-metesr in a new career best time of 1:00.23, a full two seconds better than her previous top time. She is just two seconds off the program record. Hurst added a 26th overall finish in the 200-meters when she crossed the line in 26.63 seconds.
Joining Shipmon in the men's 200-meters was senior
Christian Oglesby (Penacook, N.H.), who ran 23.52 seconds to place in the top 30.
A crew of Panthers took on the 400-meters, with senior
Zach Hodge (Springfield, N.H.) spearheading the pack with a career best 50.50 to take sixth overall. Oglesby was ninth in 50.71 seconds, while senior
Brayden White (Whitefield, N.H.) also hit the 50-second mark in 50.83. Senior
Joey Cappelletti (Mansfield, Mass.) ran a 52.48 to score inside the top 20.
Another five Panthers head back for day two of the event on Saturday (Feb. 8).
