LEWISTON, Maine – Senior
Jenna Stowell (Londonderry, N.H.) poured in a career-high five goals, but Bates College used a 10-2 run over the final 25 minutes to pull away from Plymouth State University, 21-9, in a non-conference women's lacrosse game at Garcelon Field on Thursday afternoon.
Stowell won the opening draw and scored just 15 seconds into the contest, but Bates responded with a 10-1 run. Stowell tallied two more goals late in the second quarter to make it 11-4 at the half.

Maddie Hunt (Littleton, Mass.) strung together three straight goals to open the third quarter as the Panthers cut the deficit to 11-7, but the Bobcats scored 10 of the final 12 goals put the game away.
Plymouth State slips to 4-2, while Bates moves to 6-2.

How it Happened:
- Stowell won the opening draw and immediately found the back of the cage, scoring just 15 seconds into the contest for an early 1-0 lead.
- Bates answered with four straight goals before Hunt scored for the Panthers.
- The Bobcats added a late goal to take a 5-2 lead into the second quarter.
- The hosts ripped off five goals in the first five minutes of the second quarter to extend the margin to 10-2.
- Stowell notched back-to-back tallies, but Bates again beat the horn with a goal in the final seconds to make it 11-4 at the halftime break.
- The Panthers built momentum to start the third, using a 3-0 run in just over three minutes to pull within 11-7. Hunt converted a feed from sophomore Sammy Murphy (Harrisville, R.I.) before Stowell followed with consecutive goals.
- Bates responded with a 7-1 surge to close the quarter and extend the lead to 18-8.
- Hunt completed her hat trick to start the fourth quarter, but the Bobcats scored the final three goals of the contest to close out the win.
By the Numbers:
- Stowell's five goals were a career high. She added four ground balls and a game-high 11 draw controls.
- Hunt finished with three goals and an assist, while adding two ground balls and a caused turnover.
- Murphy had a two-point game with a goal and an assist.
- Sophomore Grace Campo (Chelmsford, Mass.) recorded four ground balls and two caused turnovers.
- Graduate student Megan Gaspa (Laconia, N.H.) led all players with four caused turnovers and chipped in two draw controls and a ground ball.
- Senior Margie Black (Longmeadow, Mass.) finished with 14 saves.
