PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Junior
Morgan Cunningham (Wrentham, Mass.) set program records for points and assists in a game, while senior
Jenna Stowell (Londonderry, N.H.) recorded her 100th career point as Plymouth State University steamrolled the University of Massachusetts Boston, 25-1, in a Little East Conference (LEC) women's lacrosse matchup at Panther Field on Saturday afternoon.
Cunningham assisted on each of PSU's first three goals as the Panthers jumped out to a 3-0 lead less than five minutes into the contest. The Beacons briefly halted the run with a goal, but Cunningham responded just 22 seconds later, igniting a dominant 22-goal surge to close out the game.
Stowell reached the 100-point milestone with an assist late in the first quarter. Cunningham tied the program records for both points and assists with a helper in the opening minute of the fourth quarter, then claimed sole possession of each mark just over three minutes later. She finished the day with four goals and nine assists for 13 points. PSU's 25 goals were just two shy of the program best.
The game also marked the team's annual
Morgan's Message event, supporting the mission to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health and promoting equal importance for mental and physical health among student-athletes.
