PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Senior
Ryan Collins (Attleboro, Mass.) scored three times and added an assist to lead Plymouth State University to a 10-3 win over Vermont State University Castleton in a Little East Conference (LEC) men's lacrosse game on
Senior Night at Panther Field on Tuesday.
Both offenses got off to slow starts as heavy winds and snow squalls created challenging conditions. Senior
Crosby Fay (Thornton, N.H.) put PSU on the board five minutes in, but the Spartans pulled even just over two minutes later. The Panthers responded with two goals in a 13-second span late in the quarter to take a 3-1 lead.
Though the snow subsided in the second quarter, Plymouth State's stifling defense continued to caused problems for the Spartans. Collins caught fire, netting three straight goals as the Panthers built a 7-1 halftime lead and cruised through the second half.

Plymouth State improves to 6-4 (2-2 LEC), while the Spartans fall to 2-8 (1-2 LEC).

How it Happened:
- Fay opened the scoring despite near-whiteout conditions, converting a pass from junior Brady Hunt (Billerica, Mass.) five minutes into the game.
- The Spartans tied it up just over two minutes later.
- Sophomore Kevin Cougler (Dover, N.H.) and Hunt scored 13 seconds apart late in the first quarter to give the Panthers a 3-1 lead.
- Sophomore Aiden Renner (Phillipsburg, N.J.) added to the lead early in the second.
- Collins took over midway through the frame, scoring three goals in just over three minutes to stretch the lead to 7-1 at the half.
- Fay added the only goal of the third quarter – his team-leading 27th of the season – as PSU maintained control.
- Early in the fourth, Collins assisted Jones before Clark scored off a feed from Hunt to push the lead to 10-1.
- VTSU Castleton added two late goals to account for the final score.
By the Numbers:
- Collins led all players with three goals and four points.
- Fay scored twice and picked up five ground balls.
- Hunt registered a three-point game with a goal and two assists.
- Jones and Cougler each finished with a goal and an assist.
- Charbonneau went 12-for-16 on faceoffs and collected a game-high six ground balls.
- He and junior Zach Marvel (Raynham, Mass.) paced the defense with two caused turnovers each.
- PSU held a 24-10 advantage in shots on goal and won the groundball battle, 36-19.
- Plymouth State improves to 25-3 all-time against the Spartans, including eight straight wins.
