PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Graduate student
Megan Gaspa (Laconia, N.H.) and senior
Jenna Stowell (Londonderry, N.H.) received significant postseason honors on Thursday, as
USA Lacrosse Magazine announced its NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse All-America teams.
Gaspa and Stowell were both named
USA Lacrosse Magazine Honorable Mention All-American, two of just three Little East Conference (LEC) athletes to earn the distinction. USA Lacrosse All-Americans are selected by staff and contributors.
The duo played pivotal roles in Plymouth State's return to the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive year. The Panthers earned a first-round win over Marymount University (Va.) before falling to #8 York College (Pa.) in the second round last weekend. The victory marked PSU's third-ever NCAA Tournament win.
Gaspa concludes her career ranked third in caused turnovers (136), fourth in draw controls (256), and eighth in ground balls (170), while also placing among the program's top 50 all-time scorers. Her 62 caused turnovers this spring were the third-most in program history, while her 87 draw controls ranked tenth. She finished tied for 49th in career points, with 78 (67 goals, 11 assists).
Stowell, a Preseason All-American selection by the same publication in February, wrapped up her career as the program's all-time leader in draw controls (471) – an impressive feat accomplished in just three seasons. She recorded 165 draw controls this spring, one shy of her own single-season record, and holds each of the top three season totals in program history. She secured a program-record 17 draw controls in a win over VTSU Castleton in April and concludes her career ranked 29th on the school's all-time scoring list with 123 career points (83 goals, 40 assists).
Plymouth State finished the season with a 16-4 record, just one win shy of the program mark, and posted a perfect 8-0 record in Little East Conference (LEC) play to claim its 12th regular season title. The Panthers earned the conference's first-ever at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament after second-seeded Western Connecticut upset top-seeded PSU in the championship game. Plymouth State defeated Marymount, 20-16, in NCAA Tournament first-round action, before falling to #8 York in round two.
