WL: Three Panthers claim IWLCA All-Region honors

NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. – Three members of the Plymouth State University women's lacrosse team were honored on Friday when the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) announced its 2025 Division III All-Region Teams.

Graduate student Megan Gaspa (Laconia, N.H.) was named to the IWLCA Pilgrim Region First Team, while seniors Julia Donovan (Antrim, N.H.) and Jenna Stowell (Londonderry, N.H.) earned Pilgrim Region Second Team recognition. In total, 256 Division III student-athletes were selected to the 2025 All-Region teams and are now eligible for IWLCA All-American recognition, which will be announced on May 23.

All three honorees played substantial roles in a historic season for the Panthers, which culminated in the program's – and the Little East Conference's – first-ever at-large berth to the NCAA Women's Lacrosse Tournament. PSU went on to win a first-round game for the third time in school history.

Gaspa capped an outstanding career with her best season yet, setting career highs in caused turnovers and draw controls, while matching personal bests in points and ground balls. She finished the year with 62 caused turnovers, 63 ground balls, and 87 draw controls, while adding 20 goals and five assists. Named an All-American by USA Lacrosse Magazine, Gaspa also claimed LEC Defensive Player of the Year honors for the second straight season and secured a spot on the All-LEC First Team. She leaves Plymouth State as arguably the most well-rounded player in program history – ranking third in career caused turnovers, fourth in draw controls, eighth in ground balls, and among the program's top 50 all-time scorers.

Donovan delivered personal bests in goals, assists, points, and caused turnovers while surpassing the 200-career goal milestone, becoming just the second player in school history to do so. Her 68 goals this spring were the fifth-most in a single season at PSU, and she finished just six points shy of becoming only the fourth player with a 100-point campaign. The back-to-back LEC Offensive Player of the Year and three-time All-LEC First Team selection closed out the year with 68 goals, 26 assists (94 points), 26 ground balls, and 14 caused turnovers. She ranks second in career goals (205), third in career assists (91), and third in career points (296), firmly establishing herself as one of the program's most prolific offensive talents.

Stowell, who also garnered USA Lacrosse Magazine All-America honors after being named a Preseason All-American, saw a significant jump in offensive production this season. Already dominant on the draw, she recorded a career-high 36 goals and finished with 47 points. Her 165 draw controls were the second-most in school history – just one shy of her record from last spring – while she also posted career bests in ground balls (45) and caused turnovers (18). Stowell shattered the school record with 471 career draw controls despite playing just three seasons at PSU and ranks 29th on the program's all-time scoring list with 123 points (83 goals, 40 assists). She, too, was an All-LEC First Team selection.

Plymouth State concluded the season with a 16-4 record – just one win shy of the program record – and posted a perfect 8-0 mark in LEC play to claim its 12th regular season title. The Panthers earned the conference's first-ever at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament and defeated Marymount University (Va.), 20-16, in the opening round for the program's third NCAA Tournament victory. PSU's season came to a close against #8 York College (Pa.) in the second round.
