NEW LONDON, Conn. – Senior
Kylie Taylor (Orford, N.H.) set a new school record, while classmate
Connor Wilcox (Colchester, Conn.) earned All-New England honors as qualifying athletes from the Plymouth State University outdoor track & field teams competed on day one of the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championship, hosted by the Coast Guard Academy at Nitchman Track on Friday.
Taylor and senior
Libby McIntyre (Greene, Maine) represented the women's team in the hammer throw, where Taylor established a program record with a toss of 43.94 meters. She surpassed McIntyre's two-week-old record by more than 0.40 meters to finish just outside of a scoring position in ninth place. McIntyre placed 11th with a mark of 42.73 meters.
Leading the men's squad, Wilcox closed out his career by finishing second in the 10,000 meters with a time of 31:44.05. He was within striking distance of his personal best and shaved nearly 20 seconds off his performance from the Little East Conference (LEC) Championships last Sunday.
Sophomore
Elijah Thomas (Stoughton, Mass.) took fifth in his heat in the prelims of the 110-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 15.80 seconds to finish 16th overall.
Also competing for PSU was freshman
Cooper Conklin (Cumberland, R.I.), who reached 46.91 meters in the hammer throw to place 18th.
Plymouth State returns for day two of competition on Saturday (May 3).
