PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Senior
Katie Porrello (Milford, Conn.) scored her first career goal and junior
Sarah Adamske (Londonderry, N.H.) added her first of the year, but it wasn't enough as Plymouth State University dropped a 4-2 decision to Colby-Sawyer College in non-conference field hockey action at Panther Field on Wednesday evening.
Porrello and the Panthers' struck first when she buried a shot halfway through the first for a 1-0 lead. The PSU offense kept the pressure on, but was unable to add to its lead as hosts stayed in front after one. Colby-Sawyer evened the score early in the second quarter when they pounced on a loose ball during a scramble at the front of the cage and the score remained tied into halftime.
The Chargers struck early in the third to take the 2-1 lead. Both teams went back-and-forth, but neither was able to add on as it remained a one-goal game into the final stanza. Colby-Sawyer added another on a penalty stroke to push the score to 3-1, then tacked on an insurance goal a few minutes later.
Adamske stepped into the shooting arch and blasted home her first of the year with under a minute to go to account for the 4-2 final score.
