WELLESLEY, Mass. – Senior
Brady Lyons (Methuen, Mass.) qualified for the finals of the 100-yard butterfly after posting a personal-best time in the preliminaries to lead the Plymouth State University men's swim team on day one of the Little East Conference (LEC) Championships at the Boston Sports Institute on Friday.
Lyons placed seventh in the prelims with a personal-best 56.41 to advance to the finals, where he finished seventh overall in 56.50.
Senior
Brendan Lee (Dover, N.H.) swam the fastest time of his career in the prelims of the 50-yard breaststroke, narrowly missing a spot in the championship finals by less than a half-second.
Plymouth State scored 55 points on day one to sit sixth in the team standings.
Meet Highlights:
- Lyons posted a personal-best 56.41 in the prelims of the 100-yard butterfly to qualify seventh. He returned in the finals and touched in 56.50 to finish seventh overall.
- Despite swimming the fastest 50-yard breaststroke of his career (29.07), Lee missed out on a spot in the championship finals by less than a half-second. He won the consolation final with a time of 29.23.
- Plymouth State showed its depth in the 50-yard freestyle as three swimmers reached the consolation finals. Senior Cory Boisselle (Methuen, Mass.) posted a season best 23.40 to qualify 13th, just ahead of junior Marco D'Addona (Torrington, Conn.), who was 14th in 24.08. Sophomore Karson Genakos (Gilford, N.H.) placed 16th in the prelims with a season-best 26.54.
- D'Addona finished fifth in the consolation final with a personal-best 23.45, while Boisselle was sixth in 23.67. Genakos rounded out the field in eighth at 27.10.
- Lee, Lyons, Boisselle, and D'Addona teamed up in the 200-yard freestyle relay to place sixth in 1:35.02.

- The championships continue with day two on Saturday (Feb. 14). Prelims are set for 10:00 a.m., with event finals at 6:30 p.m.
