NEW BEDFORD, Mass. – Freshman
Étienne Tremblay-Mathieu (Québec City, Québec) scored twice and added two assists to break a 2-2 tie and lift Plymouth State University to a 6-3 victory over the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in a Little East Conference (LEC) men's ice hockey contest at Hetland Arena on Saturday afternoon.
Plymouth State converted a pair of power-plays to take a 2-0 lead midway through the second period, but UMass Dartmouth responded with back-to-back tallies to square the game with 4:47 left in the frame.
Tremblay-Mathieu registered an assist as senior
Will Redick (Collingwood, Ontario) buried the go-ahead goal late in the period, then set up junior
Will Pray (Prague, Czechia) early in the third to make it 4-2.
Tremblay-Mathieu added his first goal of the afternoon with less than nine minutes to play, and after the Corsairs pulled within 5-3, he sealed the win with a long empty-net goal with 2:27 left on the clock.
Redick also scored twice in the win.
Plymouth State jumps to 12-9-1 (9-5-1 LEC), while the Corsairs fall to 10-11-0 (5-9-0 LEC).

How it Happened:
- Redick gave the Panthers a first-period lead with a power-play strike at the 11:20 mark, firing a shot through traffic from the point.
- The 1-0 advantage held into the first intermission.
- Plymouth State doubled the margin with another power-play tally when sophomore Matt Hale (Center Harbor, N.H.) banged home a rebound at 11:22.
- The Corsairs answered just 14 seconds later and then evened the score at 2-2 with 4:47 left in the period.
- Redick restored the Panthers' lead with a low-angle shot to make it 3-2 heading into the third.
- Pray gave PSU a two-goal cushion by knocking in a rebound three minutes into the final frame, and Tremblay-Mathieu extended the margin to 5-2 when he batted home a rebound with 8:48 remaining.
- UMass Dartmouth pulled within 5-3 on a power-play goal with roughly four minutes left, but Tremblay-Mathieu sealed the win with an empty-netter to account for the final score.
