PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Following a pair of stellar shooting performances on the hardwood, Plymouth State University freshman
Macy Swormstedt (Laconia, N.H.) earned Little East Conference (LEC) weekly honors, the league announced Monday.
Swormstedt was selected LEC Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week after averaging 19.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game while shooting a remarkable 71.4% from the floor as the Panthers split a pair of conference contests.
Swormstedt matched a career high with 20 points on 6-for-9 shooting and added six rebounds, three steals, and an assist in 36 minutes of action during Wednesday's setback at Keene State. She drilled 3-of-4 attempts from beyond the arc and went 5-for-6 at the free throw line.
She logged her first career double-double in Saturday's lopsided 84-54 win over UMass Dartmouth with another outstanding shooting effort, going 9-for-12 from the field for 19 points while posting career highs of 12 rebounds and five steals, and adding seven assists.
Swormstedt ranks among the league leaders in assists, steals, and assist-to-turnover ratio. Her three highest scoring performances have all come in the last four games, and she leads the Panthers in both assists and steals.
Plymouth State (10-11, 3-9 LEC) visits league-leading Southern Maine on Wednesday (Feb. 11) before returning home to host UMass Boston on
Senior Day on Saturday (Feb. 14).
