PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Following a perfect 3-0 week, two members of the Plymouth State University men's lacrosse team were recognized Monday when the Little East Conference (LEC) announced its weekly award winners.
Freshman
Colby Walden (Londonderry, N.H.) was selected as LEC Men's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week, while graduate student
Ethan Schena (Methuen, Mass.) was named Goalie of the Week after the duo helped lead Plymouth State to non-conference wins over Clark University, the University of New England, and Curry College last week.
Walden posted 12 points on two goals and 10 assists during the week, while Schena recorded a 4.33 goals against average and a .705 save percentage to anchor the defense.
Walden picked up three assists in a 9-3 win at Clark on Tuesday, then posted two goals and three assists in PSU's 9-5 win over UNE in Thursday's home opener. He capped the week with four assists in the Panthers' 7-5 comeback win at Curry on Saturday.
Schena made nine stops to beat Clark, then posted double-digit saves in each of the next two contests. He turned aside 10 shots in the victory over UNE before closing the week with a 12-save effort as the Panthers rallied past Curry on Saturday.
