PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Freshman
Evelyn Goudreau (Topsham, Maine) matched a personal best with four goals, but Bates College raced past Plymouth State University, 18-6, in a non-conference women's lacrosse game at Panther Field on Tuesday afternoon.
Bates, coming off a three-goal setback against No. 1 Middlebury, built a 6-1 advantage in the first quarter, with Goudreau scoring for the Panthers. The Bobcats extended the margin to 11-1 before Goudreau converted a woman-up chance for her second of the game.
Senior
Morgan Cunningham (Wrentham, Mass.) scored while PSU was down a player to make it 15-3 heading into the fourth quarter. After a quick Bates tally, Plymouth State rallied with three straight goals to pull within 16-6 and force a timeout. The visitors regrouped after the break, scoring twice more in the final five minutes to account for the final margin.
Plymouth State falls to 1-5, while Bates improves to 4-5.

How it Happened:
- Bates opened with four straight goals before Goudreau put the Panthers on the board with 5:32 left in the first quarter.
- The Bobcats responded with a 7-0 burst spanning into the second quarter.
- Goudreau briefly slowed the momentum with her second goal of the game, but the visitors answered to take a 12-2 lead into halftime.
- Bates opened the third quarter with a 3-0 spurt before Cunningham scored while the Panthers were down a player, making it 15-3 heading into the fourth.
- The Bobcats scored early in the fourth, but Plymouth State built some momentum during the middle of the frame with three straight goals, as freshman Grace Hoover (Salem, N.H.) found the back of the cage between two more Goudreau tallies to cut the deficit to 16-6.
- Bates called a timeout to regroup, then closed the game with consecutive scores in the final five minutes to account for the 18-6 final.

- Goudreau posted her second four-goal game of the season and added two draw controls.
- Cunningham finished with a goal and two assists, while sophomore Claire Joyce (Braintree, Mass.) had three assists.
- Hoover's goal was her second of the season.
- Junior Grace Campo (Chelmsford, Mass.) posted a team-high three caused turnovers and added three ground balls.
- Freshman Caitlin Snow (Peabody, Mass.) made 11 saves and chipped in four ground balls.
- Freshman Paige Carrow (Mansfield, Mass.) and sophomore Caroline Purcell (Lake Placid, N.Y.) recorded four draw controls apiece.
- Bates has won all 16 meetings between the two teams.
