LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Three members of the Plymouth State University softball team were recognized by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) as weekly top performers, the organization announced on Tuesday.
Senior
Kenzie Bessette (Cranston, R.I.), junior
Avery Couch (Fort Worth, Texas) and freshman
Allie Cecere (Plainville, Mass.) were all recognized for their performances over the last week.
Bessette continued her strong start to the year, extending her season-long hitting streak to 13 straight games. She hit .467 for the week, smacking three doubles, scoring five runs, driving in three and going 3-for-3 in steals.
Cecere posted a pair of complete game wins with a 2.52 earned run average, while Couch hit .357 with a home run and four RBIs over the week.
Plymouth State split doubleheaders at Albertus Magnus and UMass Dartmouth to move to 6-10 (1-1 LEC) on the year. The Panthers are on the road for a pair of games at Bridgewater State today.
