WATERVILLE, Maine – Senior
Abby Bsullak (Poland, Maine) scored twice, and Plymouth State University rallied from a three-goal deficit, but Thomas College scored the game's final three goals to top the Panthers, 6-3, in a non-conference field hockey game at Bernatchez Field on Saturday afternoon.
The hosts jumped out to a 3-0 lead early in the second quarter. The Panthers came to life as Bsullak scored both of her goals within a seven-minute span midway through the second quarter to make it a 3-2 game at halftime.
The PSU offense continued to apply pressure in the opening minutes of the third quarter, peppering the Terriers' goalkeeper with shots. Graduate student
Ellie Monahan (Watertown, Mass.) broke through and tied the game with less than five minutes remaining in the frame, but Thomas answered less than two minutes later to carry a 4-3 lead into the fourth quarter.
PSU continued to push to draw even again, but Thomas scored two more goals in the fourth to account for the final score.
Plymouth State dips to 0-5, while the Terriers move to 1-2.
