PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Senior
Abby Bsullak (Poland, Maine) scored a pair of goals and added an assist, but Dean College outlasted Plymouth State University, 7-6, in overtime in a high-scoring, back-and-forth non-conference field hockey game at Panther Field on Wednesday afternoon.
Dean scored twice in a two-minute span in the opening quarter, but the Panthers answered with three straight goals, including both from Bsullak, to take a 3-2 lead. The Bulldogs responded with three of the next four goals to regain a 5-4 advantage at halftime, setting up another back-and-forth second half.
PSU tied the game with the lone goal of the third quarter, then went ahead midway through the fourth, but Dean responded less than two minutes later, and the score remained deadlocked through the end of regulation.
Plymouth State had an early shot saved in overtime before Dean countered. Freshman
Hannah Bub (Groveland, Mass.) stopped a high shot at the near post, but the Bulldogs gathered the rebound and sent a quick pass to the far post for the game-winner.
Plymouth State falls to 0-6, while Dean improves to 4-1.

How it Happened:
- The Bulldogs broke through 5:36 into the contest, then doubled the margin two minutes later.
- Plymouth State responded late in the first quarter. Senior Sarah Adamske (Windham, N.H.) drove a long pass off a restart to graduate student Ellie Monahan (Watertown, Mass.) for a breakaway. Monahan found freshman Elliana Wing (Concord, N.H.) in the circle, and she fired a shot to the left corner to make it 2-1 after one.
- Junior Georgia Coleman (North Conway, N.H.) whipped a pass to Bsullak, who swept a one-timer past the keeper to tie the game less than a minute into the second quarter. Monahan then tomahawked a pass to Bsullak, who batted it past the goalie for a 3-2 lead five minutes later.
- Dean answered less than a minute later, but freshman Amelia Avery (Campton, N.H.) fired a turnaround shot to restore the lead, 4-3, with less than six minutes remaining before halftime.
- Once again, the Bulldogs responded, this time just 24 seconds later, before adding a goal in the final minutes of the half to carry a 5-4 lead into halftime.
- Junior Lexi Berrettini (Lake Bluff, Ill.) flipped a rebound high into the cage for the only goal of the third quarter, squaring the score at 5-5.
- PSU had a prime chance to take the lead on a penalty stroke with less than nine minutes remaining in regulation, but the Dean goalie made a diving stop at the post.
- The Panthers went back in front, 6-5, when Coleman got the ball in traffic and sent a turnaround shot off the far post and in midway through the fourth.
- Dean responded once again, tying the game with less than six minutes to play. PSU had one last chance in regulation, but a redirected shot off a penalty corner drifted just wide of the cage.
- Bsullak forced the Dean goalie into a tough save early in the extra session, and the Bulldogs countered. Bubb made a nice stop on a high shot at the near post, but Dean snagged the rebound and sent a pass to the far post for the game-winner.
