FH: Wing ties it late, but Husson outlasts Panthers in OT

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Freshman Elliana Wing (Concord, N.H.) scored the game-tying goal with less than two minutes remaining in regulation, but Husson University rallied to top Plymouth State University, 3-2, in overtime of a non-conference field hockey game at Panther Field on Saturday afternoon.

The Panthers came out of the gates firing, and graduate student Ellie Monahan (Watertown, Mass.) blasted one past the Eagles' goalie for an early 1-0 lead. The score would stand until the middle of the third quarter, when Husson found a loose ball and cashed in to tie the game at 1-1.

Husson took a 2-1 lead just over five minutes into the fourth quarter, setting the stage for back-and-forth action. Both teams had quality chances, with freshman goalie Hannah Bub (Groveland, Mass.) making a great save on a point-blank opportunity. Moments later, Wing tied the game as PSU converted a penalty corner with 1:51 remaining in regulation.

Bub made a flurry of saves early in the extra session, but Husson cashed in on a rebound opportunity to claim with the win.
