SALEM, Mass. - Freshman Jennifer Surabian scored
with 8:12 left in the second overtime session Tuesday evening to
lift Salem State College to a pulsating 4-3 non-conference victory
over the Plymouth State University Panthers under the lights at
Alumni Field.
SSC (9-1-1) and the Panthers (3-4-3) battled to a 2-2 draw after 45
minutes of action. Freshman Alyssa Konsavitch (North Stonington,
Conn.) and sophomore Katy Verrette (Saugus, Mass.) scored for the
Lady Vikings while freshman Katherine Goller
(Williston, Vt.) and junior Gianna Minervini

Freshman Jackie Gauthier (Danvers, Mass.) put SSC ahead 3-2 at
63:02 only to see the Panthers come right back to tie it 57 seconds
later on a goal by junior Lauren Lavery (Nashua,
N.H.) Surabian decided the match when she drilled a low shot past
Panther freshman goalkeeper Stephanie Regina
(Howell, N.J.) just 1:48 into the second extra period.
SSC held a commanding 32-7 advantage in shots and a 6-0 edge in
corner kicks. Freshman goalkeeper Leah Potcner (Wilmington, Mass.)
made a pair saves for the Lady Vikings. Regina stopped 11 shots for
the visitors.
Both schools return to conference play on Saturday, as PSU returns
home to host Western Connecticut in a Little East Conference
match-up (1:00 p.m.) and the Lady Vikings travel to Framingham
State for a 10:00 am Massachusetts State College Athletic
