Box Score Parsons makes seven saves in opening half
MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Junior Jenna Parsons (Windham, N.H.) made seven saves in the first half, but the Plymouth State University women's soccer team was overpowered by #2 Middlebury College, 5-0, in non-conference action at Dragone Field on Wednesday night.
Middlebury, the national runner-up a year ago, built a 3-0 first half lead and was able to limit PSU to six shots.
Plymouth State dips to 0-2, while Middlebury moves to 1-0.

How it Happened.
- Plymouth State had an opportunity to get on the board first in the 12th minute when a shot from junior Sofia Karlsson (Vaxjo, Sweden) went just wide of the post after deflecting off a Middlebury player.
- Middlebury took the lead just over two minutes later when Simone Ameer chipped a shot over Parsons.
- The hosts added a pair of goals in a three-minute span late in the half. Isabelle Hartnett headed in a corner kick with 12:24 left in the half, then Quinn Rogers scored her first collegiate goal minutes later.
- Middlebury added another goal off a corner in the 53rd minute.
- Sophomore Sarah Hicks (Sutton, Mass.) sent a cross to the far post for junior Mallory Lloyd (Hartland, Vt.) minutes later, but Lloyd's redirection went just wide.
- The hosts closed the scoring with 23:34 remaining when Eliza Robinson lined a shot into the top-right corner.
Inside the Numbers:
- Parsons made seven saves in the first half, before sophomore Elena Register (Helena, Ala.) took over for the final 45 minutes. Register recorded one stop.
- Ursula Alwang earned the win for Middlebury.
- The hosts held a 24-6 advantage in shots and 7-1 edge in corner kicks.
