JR Barone (West Chester, Pa.) and
Peter Laviolette (Longboat Key, Fla.) led Plymouth State University with two goals apiece to help lead the Panthers to a major, 8-3 victory over Framingham State University in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) game at Loring Arena on Saturday.
PSU trailed 2-1 early in the second period but Laviolette knotted the game with his first of the night to spark a string of seven straight goals for the Panthers. His second of the night was a short-handed bid in the third period to bookend the 7-0 spurt.
Barone added a pair of assists to his two goals to finish with four points, his first giving the Panthers a 4-2 lead in the second period, before pushing the advantage to 6-2 early in the third.
Junior
Myles Abbate (Norwell, Mass.) and sophomore
Colin Tracy (Bow, N.H.) each notched four-point games as well, with Abbate picking up a goal and three assists and Tracy dishing out four helpers.
Plymouth State bumps its record to 9-4-2 (6-1-2 MASCAC), while Framingham State is dropped to 1-11-0 and 0-7-0 in conference play.

How it Happened:
- Junior Ted Austin (Sylvania, Ohio) took advantage of a power play chance to score the first goal of the game 5:10 into the opening period.
- The one goal lead held into the second period, but the Rams tied the game 1:16 into the middle stanza before going ahead three minutes later.
- Laviolette rallied the Panthers with another power play goal to tie the game 7:34 into the second, leading to an offensive eruption by PSU.
- Sophomore Whim Stalberg (Gotenburg, Sweden) scored the tie-breaking goal with 5:45 left in the frame and Barone buried his first of the game less than two minutes later.
- Abbate followed with the Panthers' third power play strike of the night to push the lead to 5-2 heading into the third.
- Barone got his second score of the game to continue the momentum into the third period and junior Lucas Holmqvist (Lerum, Sweden) pushed it to 7-2 with a score of his own.
- Laviolette added to the carnage with a short-handed score 12:59 into the final period, before the Rams tallied a power play goal in the final minute to account for the final score.
By the Numbers:
- Sophomore Kalle Andersson (Taby, Sweden) had 27 saves between the pipes.
- The Panthers outmatched Framingham State with a 48-30 margin in shots.
- With his two scores, Barone now ranks first in the MASCAC in goals and fourth in points.
- PSU was an efficient 3-of-5 on the power play, while the Rams went 2-for-11.
- Plymouth State has won 15 straight against the Rams, and is unbeaten in the last 22 meetings dating back to January 2014.
