PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Junior
Tyler O'Mara (Litchfield, N.H.) and sophomore
Jaylin Houston (New Haven, Conn.) each earned wins but WPI used a run of five straight wins by fall to top Plymouth State University, 44-7, in a wrestling dual meet at Foley Gymnasium on Saturday.
O'Mara jumped out to a quick lead and built over three minutes of riding time on the way to his 11-3 major decision victory at 149 pounds to cut the WPI advantage to 14-4. The Engineers rallied with five straight pins to take control before Houston held his opponent scoreless on the way to a 7-0 decision at heavyweight.
PSU drops to 0-1 in dual meets, while WPI picks up its first dual win of the season (1-4).
Prior to the meet Plymouth State observed a moment of silence in memory of longtime coach Jim Aguiar.
