PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Sophomore
Piper Sherbert (Freeport, Maine) made a career high ten saves over 45 minutes of action, but #9 Colby College had too much firepower, topping Plymouth State University 19-5 in a non-conference women's lacrosse game at Panther Field on Sunday afternoon.
The Mules opened the game with six straight before junior
Olivia Croke (Norwell, Mass.) made a great spin move around a player on the left side, capping off her drive with the Panthers' first goal of the afternoon. Colby continued to control play, though, building a 12-3 lead at the half.
Plymouth State battled back in the second half, limiting the Colby scoring chances and holding the high-powered Mules to six second half goals while playing even in the fourth quarter.
The setback snaps PSU's four game win streak, dropping the Panthers to 4-1 on the season. Plymouth State is facing its most difficult stretch of the season with three nationally ranked opponents, including #6 Middlebury College and #18 Bowdoin College, along with New England College.
Colby improves to 2-1.

- Freshman Elle Moshier (Stratford, Conn.) notched the first of her three goals four minutes into the second quarter. After Colby found the back of the cage twice more, Moshier had the answer for the Panthers to make it 9-3.
- Colby took control with eight straight goals heading into the fourth quarter with a 17-3 lead.
- Sophomore Megan Gaspa (Laconia, N.H.) tallied her second of the year on a free position attempt to start the fourth quarter. The Mules scored twice, with Moshier wrapping up the hat trick to account for the final score.
