NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Senior
Amelia Julian (Apple Valley, Minn.) made 47 saves but #13 Norwich University skated past Plymouth State University, 6-0, in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) women's ice hockey action at Kreitzberg Arena on Friday evening.
Julian and the Panthers' defense did well to keep the high-scoring Cadets off the scoreboard through the opening ten-plus minutes. Norwich went ahead when the puck took a lucky bounce off Julian and flipped over the goal line and the Cadets doubled the lead a minute later.
PSU had a pair of power play chances in the middle stanza, but the Panthers were unable to cash in as Norwich made it 3-0 heading into the second intermission.
The hosts put the game out of reach with three tallies in the final 20-minutes.
Plymouth State slips to 2-2-0 (2-1-0 NEHC) while the Cadets improve to 4-2-1 (4-1-0 NEHC).

- Plymouth State (2-2-0, 2-1-0 NEHC)
- #13 Norwich (4-2-1, 4-1-0 NEHC)
How it Happened:
- Julian came up with a big save when Norwich skated in on a 2-on-1 midway through the first period.
- The Cadets caught a lucky break to get on the board first at the 14:32 mark. Norwich won an offensive zone faceoff straight to a quick wrist shot. Julian was able to get a piece of the puck, but it flittered over her shoulder and bounced into the net.
- Norwich made it 2-0 a minute later after burying a one-timer from the slot.
- PSU's best chance came with three minutes on the clock when senior Carsen Moffett (Kamloops, British Columbia) redirected a shot from the blue line, but the puck went wide and Norwich went into the locker room with a 2-0 lead.
- Norwich cashed in on a 3-on-1 break six minutes into the second to make it 3-0. Julian made the initial save, but the rebound went right to a Cadets' skater for the goal.
- PSU had a chance during a power play, but a blast from senior Lauren McNeil (Ottawa, Ontario) was blocked and sophomore Katie Porrello (Milford, Conn.) was denied on a low-angle shot.
- Porrello had another chance in the Panthers' second power play of the stanza, but her one-timer rocket from the left circle hit the crossbar and the 3-0 score held into the second intermission.
- Norwich put the game out of reach in the third period.
