PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Three members of the Plymouth State University women's ice hockey team were honored when the Little East Conference (LEC) announced its major award winners and all-conference selections on Tuesday.
Junior
Grace Bonnell (Madison, Wis.) earned All-LEC First Team honors, while freshmen
Lisi Palmer (Brunswick, Maine) and
Jorja Moore (Penticton, British Columbia) were named to the All-Rookie Team.
Under third-year head coach
Ben Chipman, Plymouth State went 12-14-0 (6-12-0 LEC) to earn the second-most wins in program history. Playing in a different conference for the third straight season, the Panthers started 0-6 in league play before using a 6-3 stretch late in the season to secure the No. 6 seed for the inaugural LEC Tournament. PSU fell at No. 3 seed Southern Maine in the first round.
Grace Bonnell:
- A 5-1 defenseman, Bonnell was tied for the team lead with 17 points. She was tied for first with 11 assists and tied for second with six goals.
- She appeared in all 26 games, finishing the season with a +5 rating.
- Her three game-winning goals were tied for sixth in the LEC.
- She posted a team-best 29 blocked shots.
- She recorded six goals and nine assists in a 15-game stretch from Dec. 5 to Feb. 14.
- This is her first postseason honor.
Lisi Palmer:
- A 5-5 forward, Palmer ranked fourth on the team with 14 points, scoring four goals while tying for second with 10 assists.
- Her +6 rating was the highest on the team.
- She played in all 26 games.
- Palmer scored a season-best two goals in a win over New England College in a key weekend series in February.
- This is her first postseason honor.
Jorja Moore:
- A 5-9 goaltender, Moore established herself as one of the top netminders in the league.
- She was third in the conference with three shutouts in 11 games.
- Her 2.01 goals against average ranked fifth in the LEC.
- She was sixth in the league in save percentage (.926) and saves per game (24.91).
- Moore posted five games with 30-plus saves, including a career-high 42 in a key win over Southern Maine on Feb. 13.
- This is her first postseason honor.
