BOSTON, Mass. – Senior
Mike Olson (Sutton, Mass.) laid down some impressive performances to help the Plymouth State University men's indoor track & field team to a 14th place finish at the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championships at The TRACK at New Balance on Saturday.
Olson sparked the Panthers with a third-place finish in the 800-meters in a season-best time of 1:53.12 to earn his first All-Region honors of the weekend in the event. He later joined freshman
Josh Rebello (North Dighton, Mass.), sophomore
Christian Oglesby (Penacook, N.H.) and junior
Jyaire Hatcher (Uniondale, N.Y.) for the 4x400-meter relay where they took seventh overall in a time of 3:25.03 to claim All-Region honors for the quartet.
The 4x800-meter squad of seniors
Luke Gomes (Litchfield, N.H.),
Brent Coope (Wolfeboro, N.H.) and
Colin Moar (Annandale, Va.) with junior
Ryan Moyer (Dover, N.H.) demolished the school record in the event with a sub-eight-minute mark of 7:57.30. Their time beat the previous record by seven seconds and their previous best by over ten seconds. Their time was good enough for seventh overall to award All-Region honors to the foursome.
Moar took his shot in the 800-meter run as well, crossing the line in 1:57.16.
Oglesby and Hatcher also represented in the 400-meter dash where they finished in times of 50.72 and 50.33, respectively.
Rebello also appeared in the 600-meter dash where he posted a personal best time of 1:24.69.
Plymouth State accrued 20 points, the most scored at the regional championships in program history, to finish 14th overall.
