MEDFORD, Mass. – Freshmen Griffin Massahos (Londonderry, N.H.) and Enzo Valenti (Montville, Conn.) each posted top-10 finishes to lead the Plymouth State University men's indoor track & field team on day two of the Tufts Cupid Challenge, hosted by Tufts University at the Gantcher Center on Saturday.
 
Massahos paced the Panthers on the track with a ninth-place finish in the 200 meters, crossing the line in 23.32. He also clocked 7.34 in the 60-meter dash open division, edging classmate Jiasen Smith (Lisbon, N.H.) by just one one-thousandth of a second as the duo finished 11th and 12th, respectively. Sophomore Ty Shipmon (Yonkers, N.Y.) added a strong showing in the 60-meter dash invite division, running 7.16 in the preliminaries to place 17th overall.
 
In the field events, Valenti delivered Plymouth State's top finish of the day, placing eighth in the weight throw with a mark of 14.95 meters. Senior Joel Newman (Natick, Mass.) also cracked the top 15, clearing 1.77 meters to finish 14th in the high jump.
 
The meet was non-scoring.

Meet Highlights:

• Shipmon ran 7.16 in the preliminaries of the 60-meter dash to place 17th.
• In the 60-meter dash open division, Massahos clocked 7.34 to edge Smith for 11th and 12th place. The two were separated by just one one-thousandth of a second. Senior Nik Snyder (Pelham, N.H.) and freshman Tegan Drake (Alexandria, N.H.) also competed in the event, placing 45th (7.68) and 51st (7.72), respectively.
• The Panthers were well represented in the 200-meter dash, with Massahos finishing ninth in 23.32. Junior Khalid Vicks (Kingston, Mass.) and freshman Cam Lee (Northwood, N.H.) placed 13th and 14th in 23.47 and 23.51, respectively.
• Shipmon, Smith and senior Zach Hodge (Springfield, N.H.) followed in 16th, 17th and 18th with times of 23.61, 23.65 and 23.69, respectively.
• Junior Nick Sobalo (Pelham, N.H.) and Drake rounded out the field in 37th and 41st. Sobalo clocked 24.61, while Drake finished in 24.72.
• Freshman Jack Taylor (Bellingham, Mass.) ran 54.69 to place 25th in the 400 meters.
• Senior Luke Cloutier (Lyman, Maine) won his heat in the 800 meters and placed 14th overall in 2:02.37.
• Senior Ben Colby (Manchester, N.H.) placed 18th in the 800 meters in 2:02.61, while freshman Alex LeClair (Presque Isle, Maine) was 41st in 2:19.34.
• Senior Max Goodman (South Salem, N.Y.) finished 22nd in the mile in 4:34.47. Classmate Jackson Diglio (Goshen, N.Y.) was 47th in 5:01.16, while junior Mason Phillips (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) placed 50th in 5:04.57.
• Junior Elijah Thomas (Stoughton, Mass.) led a quartet of Panthers in the 60-meter hurdles, posting 8.90 to finish 22nd. Junior Shea McLaughlin (Byfield, Mass.) was 24th in 9.02, sophomore CJ Lytle (Merrimack, N.H.) placed 29th in 9.20, and Lee was 31st in 9.22.
• Newman finished 14th in the high jump after clearing 1.77 meters.
• In the shot put open division, freshmen Kellen Bateman (Exeter, N.H.) and Maxx Telofski (Peterborough, N.H.) placed 23rd and 31st with throws of 11.42 meters and 11.10 meters, respectively. Freshman Parker Wood (Alton, N.H.) was 33rd at 10.84 meters.
• Valenti placed eighth in the weight throw with a mark of 14.95 meters. Freshman Owen Arias (Madison, N.H.) was 29th at 12.74 meters, while sophomore Isaac Robert (Hebron, N.H.) and senior Bryce Harmon (Barrington, N.H.) finished 36th (12.40m) and 40th (11.93m), respectively.
