BRISTOL, R.I. – Led by graduate student
Ty Miller (Groton, Conn.), who finished fourth at 184 pounds, the Plymouth State University wrestling squad had an impressive three place finishers at the season-opening Roger Williams Invitational on Saturday.
Miller went 4-2 on the day, picking up two wins by fall to take fourth at 184 pounds, while freshman
Cam Monahan (Salem, N.H.) was impressive in his collegiate debut, winning four bouts to take fifth at 133 pounds. Senior
Chase Anestis (Belmont, N.H.) also placed for the Panthers, finishing sixth at 165 pounds with five wins on the day.
As a team, Plymouth State finished ninth out of 12 teams.

How it Happened:
- Miller got his day started with an overpowering 18-1 technical fall win. He came up short in an 8-0 major decision to Gavin Kohel of Wisconsin-Whitewater in his second bout, but ripped off three straight victories, including a pair of pins, to advance to the third-place bout. In a rematch against Kohel, he came up just short in a 6-0 decision to end up fourth.
- Monahan opened his collegiate career with a win by fall in 2:12 and followed with a narrow 5-4 decision. He was pinned by two-time national champion Joziah Fry from Johnson & Wales, but advanced through the consolation bracket with a pair of pins before having his day end against Andrew Marchese of VTSU Castleton, the second-ranked grappler in the region, to take fifth.
- Anestis picked up right where he left off after an outstanding season last winter. He went 5-1 on the day, opening with a pin before a setback by an 8-1 decision. He rebounded with a technical fall (15-0) win and a pin, before snagging a 2-0 win by decision. He ended his day with another technical fall (15-0) victory to finish sixth.
- Freshman Brody McDonald (Salem, N.H.) picked up a pair of wins in his debut at 125 pounds, including a pin in his first collegiate contest.
- Senior Nick Antonucci (Windham, N.H.) won twice at 157 pounds, while junior Michael Moussa (Tucson, Ariz.) also posted two wins at 197 pounds.
- Freshman John Allmers (Rivervale, N.J.) and sophomore Ryan M. Fleming (Salisbury, Mass.) also grabbed their first collegiate victories, both by fall.

- The Panthers head back to Rhode Island for the Rhode Island College triangular next Saturday (Nov. 16). PSU squares off against the host Anchormen at noon, before locking heads with WPI at 2:00 p.m.
