SOUTH EGREMONT, Mass. – Junior
Max Haussmann (Reutlingen, Germany) and senior
Franny MacDonald (North Vancouver, British Columbia) posted the top finishes for the Plymouth State University alpine ski teams as the Panthers competed in an NCAA qualifying slalom race at Catamount Mountain Resort on Sunday.
There was no team scoring, as the event replaced the canceled UVM Carnival slalom from Jan. 26. Skiers were able to accrue points towards qualification for the National Collegiate Ski Championship in just over two weeks.
Haussmann was the top PSU finisher after tying for 15th, while MacDonald paced the women's team with a 24th place showing.

How it Happened (Women's Slalom):
- MacDonald sat in 19th after her morning run of 47.44, before wrapping up the day in 24th with a combined 1:34.51.
- Sophomore Tindra Bergstrand (Taby, Sweden) was 22nd after posting a 47.70 in the first run but was disqualified on her second run.
- Classmate Vanessa Riise Naas (Lillestrom, Norway) finished her first run in 47.83 to rank 26th. She slipped one spot after her second run of 47.28 for a total time of 1:35.11.
- Senior Camryn Metzger (Meaford, Ontario) got down the hill in 48.14 in the morning to rank 32nd. After a second run of 47.01 she moved up to 28th with a 1:35.15 total time.
- Sophomore Ronja Dahlin (Hudiksvall, Sweden) posted a 48.95 in her first run to rank 43rd. Her second run of 50.08 moved her into 41st with a combined 1:39.03.
- Classmate Gill Hamilton (Ottawa, Ontario) was unable to complete her opening run.
How it Happened (Men's Slalom):
- Haussmann opened with the seventh fastest morning run of 45.48 but dropped into a tie for 15th after his second run of 46.99 for a combined time of 1:32.47.
- Junior Reed Wilson (Bristol, N.H.) posted a 47.25 in his first run to sit in 34th. He moved up five spots after his second run of 47.34 to finish 29th in 1:34.59.
- Senior Dawson Hill (Calgary, Alberta) ranked 52nd after his first run of 48.18, one spot ahead of freshman Vincent Fosser (Helsingborg, Sweden) who was 53rd in 48.22.
- Hill climbed all the way to 39th after his afternoon run of 47.81 gave him a total time of 1:35.99, while Fosser jumped to 44th with a combined 1:36.45.
- Seniors Dan Harrison (Calgary, Alberta) and Fredi Schneider (Bridgewater, N.H.) were unable to complete their first runs.
