HANCOCK, Mass. – Sophomore
Laurence Bouchard (Québec City, Québec) used a huge second run to post a career-best result and lead the Plymouth State University alpine ski teams in the slalom at the Williams Carnival at Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort on Saturday.
Bouchard ranked 16th in the morning but crushed her second run in 49.56 seconds – the fourth-fastest of the afternoon – to surge into 11th. Her previous best slalom finish was 34th.
On the men's side, sophomore
Alvin Guteland Beiming (Södertälje, Sweden) and freshman
Hjalmar Nyman (Stockholm, Sweden) also used big afternoon performances to vault up the leaderboard. Guteland Beiming had the eighth-best second run to finish 18th – his best-ever slalom finish. Nyman, who had the 13th-fastest second run, ended the day in 25th.
The women placed sixth as a team, while the men finished seventh.

How it Happened (Men's SL):
- Guteland Beiming was PSU's top finisher after the morning run, sitting in 28th with a time of 49.36 seconds. He threw down a big second run of 48.31 – the eighth-fastest of the afternoon – to soar into 18th with a combined 1:37.67.
- Nyman was close behind, ranking 39th after a first run of 49.84, while freshman Axel Hafsett (Lausanne, Switzerland) sat 44th in 50.19.
- Nyman also had a big afternoon, getting down the hill in 48.41 – the 13th-fastest – to climb to 25th with a total time of 1:38.25. Hafsett was unable to complete his second run.
- Freshman Charlie Howe (Lake Placid, N.Y.) and senior Vincent Fosser (Helsingborg, Sweden) posted first runs of 50.43 and 50.80 to rank 47th and 53rd.
- Howe posted a 49.83 second run to finish 35th in 1:40.26. Fosser was 38th in 1:40.73 after his second run of 49.93.
- Freshman Emile Prouvost (Charleston, S.C.) and junior Angus Somers (Ottawa, Ontario) were unable to complete their first runs.
How it Happened (Women's SL):
- Bouchard and sophomore Megan Heckey (Québec City, Québec) were separated by just 0.02 seconds after the morning run, with Bouchard clocking a 49.69 to rank 16th, and Heckey one spot back in 49.71.
- Bouchard's huge second run vaulted her to 11th with a combined 1:39.25. Heckey posted a second run of 50.66 to finish 19th with a combined 1:40.37.
- Senior Gill Hamilton (Ottawa, Ontario) was 34th after her first run of 51.04, while sophomore Marlene Sophie Krohn (Drammen, Norway) was 36th in 51.21.
- Krohn leapfrogged Hamilton in the afternoon, finishing 30th in 1:42.27, with Hamilton 31st in 1:42.37.
- Sophomore Olivia Andersson (Vaxholm, Sweden) was 39th with a morning time of 51.37, but was unable to finish her second run.
- Freshman Märta Hahlin (Arvidsjaur, Sweden) was disqualified after her morning run, while classmate Deavyn Parchewsky (Calgary, Alberta) did not finish her first run.

- Plymouth State travels to the Middlebury Snow Bowl for the NCAA East Regional Championships next weekend. Slalom races are set for Friday (Feb. 20), with giant slalom to follow on Saturday (Feb. 21).
