PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Senior
Dylan Flewelling (Oakland, Maine) and the 4x200-meter relay team capitalized on program records to push the Plymouth State University men's indoor track & field team to a second-place finish at the Panther Invitational I at the Bank of New Hampshire Field House at ALLWell North on Saturday.
Flewelling began the day with another massive victory in the 5,000-meters, winning in a new program and facility record time of 15:04.04. He beat the next best runner by over 30 seconds.
To cap the meet, the relay team of senior
Christian Oglesby (Penacook, N.H.), junior
Zach Hodge (Springfield, N.H.) and freshmen
Ty Shipmon (Yonkers, N.Y.) and
Gabe Kean (Thornton, N.H.) smashed the five-year old program record by roughly two seconds to win the event in 1:32.84. Oglesby got stuck in third, but a clean late handoff nudged Hodge closer to the leaders to make the pass on the backstretch. From there, Kean gapped the field for Shipmon to close out with the win and school record.
Plymouth State placed second as a team, trailing only NCAA Division II competitor Franklin Pierce, and well ahead of LEC rivals Keene State and VTSU Castleton.
