PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Six members of the Plymouth State University wrestling team competed at the Wildcat Open hosted by Johnson & Wales University on Saturday.
With regulars resting in advance of tomorrow's NEWA Dual Meet Championship, the tournament was an opportunity for PSU's depth to gain valuable experience.

How it Happened:
- Junior Nick Savariego (Hillsdale, N.J.) represented the Panthers at 133 pounds, losing by fall in his opening bout. Savariego built a lead in the first period but was pinned midway through the second.
- Freshman John Allmers (Rivervale, N.J.) suffered a pair of technical fall defeats at 141 pounds.
- Sophomore Ryan M. Fleming (Salisbury, Mass.) scored a team-high five points between his two major decision setbacks at 149 pounds.
- Wrestling at 165 pounds, freshman Cooper Carlson (Merrimack, N.H.) went 0-2 with a fall and technical fall.
- In the 197-pound division, sophomore Luke Murphy (Salem, N.H.) lost twice by fall, while classmate Jon Picon Ruiz (Central Falls, R.I.) suffered the same fate at heavyweight.
