GORHAM, Maine – Graduate student
Chase Anestis (Belmont, N.H.) finished fourth at 165 pounds to lead the Plymouth State University wrestling team at the Ted Reese Invitational hosted by the University of Southern Maine on Saturday.
Anestis opened the day with a pair of dominant wins, earning a 17-1 technical fall before pinning his next opponent in just 1:01 to advance to the semifinals. After falling by a 6-1 decision, he rebounded with another pin – this time in 1:49 – in the consolation semifinals to reach the third-place match, where he was edged in a tight 5-4 decision to finish fourth overall.
Freshman
Kaio Debrito (Deerfield Beach, Fla.) bounced back from a first-round setback to record his first career pin, then added an 8-4 decision to finish 2-2 on the day.
Classmate
Sam Cowette (Bedford, N.H.) earned a win by fall at 184 pounds, while sophomores
John Allmers (Rivervale, N.J.) and
Brody McDonald (Salem, N.H.) each picked up wins by decision in their respective weight classes.
Plymouth State finished seventh in the team standings.
