BOSTON, Mass. – Senior
Dylan Flewelling (Oakland, Maine) represented the Plymouth State University men's indoor track & field team at the John Thomas Terrier Classic hosted by Boston University at the BU Track & Tennis Center on Saturday evening, crushing a significant milestone in the process.
Flewelling ran the 5,000-meters coming off a program and facility record just two weeks prior. He posted a phenomenal new program record of 14:49.19, placing eighth in his heat with tough competition from all three NCAA Divisions and professional athletes, ending up just outside the top 100 overall. He demolished his own school record by over ten seconds.
Flewelling becomes the first track athlete to run a sub-15-minute 5k during indoor season, and just the third to cross the barrier within any of the three running seasons.
Plymouth State will send a select group of athletes to compete at the Showdown at The Heights hosted by Boston College at the TRACK at new balance next Friday (Feb. 7) and Saturday (Feb. 8).
