MITF: Flewelling honored as Track Athlete of the Year

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Senior Dylan Flewelling (Oakland, Maine) took home the top honors, while the Plymouth State University men's indoor track & field team added eight All-Little East Conference (LEC) honorees and an All-Rookie selection as the league announced its major awards winners and All-Conference and All-Rookie teams on Thursday afternoon.

Flewelling, a double-gold medal winner at the championship meet, claims his first major postseason honor as the Men's Track Athlete of the Year, while also earning All-LEC First Team honors after winning the mile run and 3,000-meters.

Senior Eli Roth (Stamford, Conn.) was PSU's other First Team honoree after his victory in the 800-meters.

Sophomore Elijah Thomas (Stoughton, Mass.) earned a Second Team selection in the 60-meter hurdles, while senior Connor Wilcox (Colchester, Conn.) claimed a Third Team nod in the 5,000-meters.

The Panthers' relays had a strong LEC championship meet with the 4x200-meter and 4x400-meter squads each snagging Second Team honors. Senior Christian Oglesby (Penacook, N.H.) led off both relays, with graduate student Brandon Vachon (Ayer, Mass.), junior Nik Snyder (Pelham, N.H.) and freshman Gabe Kean (Thornton, N.H.) rounding out the 4x200-meter foursome. Oglesby was joined by senior Joey Cappelletti (Mansfield, Mass.), junior Zach Hodge (Springfield, N.H.) and senior Brayden White (Whitefield, N.H.) on the 4x400.

Roth, juniors Luke Cloutier (Lyman, Maine) and Josh Rebello (North Dighton, Mass.) and sophomore Ben Colby (Manchester, N.H.) rounded out the all-conference honors with a Third Team selection in the 4x800-meter relay.

Freshman Noah Francis (Bethlehem, N.H.) was named All-Rookie in the 3,000-meters as the top-finishing first-year runner in the event.

Plymouth State scored 77 points at the championship meet to finish in fifth place.

Qualifying athletes head to the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championship at the TRACK at new balance this weekend.
