Maddie Hunt (Littleton, Mass.) scored three goals apiece as Plymouth State University topped St. Joseph's College of Maine, 11-7, in a non-conference women's lacrosse game at Panther Field on Friday afternoon.
Moshier notched the lone goal of the opening quarter and PSU jumped ahead 4-1 with just over four minutes left before halftime. The Monks scored a pair of late goals, though, cutting the advantage to just one, 4-3, at the break.
The Panthers scored all four goals in the third quarter to pull away, taking an 8-3 margin into the final quarter. The visitors used a 4-1 spurt to pull within two, 9-7, but Moshier gave PSU some breathing room with her third of the afternoon with 2:30 to go and sophomore
Sammy Murphy (Harrisville, R.I.) closed out the scoring in the final seconds to secure the win.
Plymouth State opens its season at 1-0, while St. Joseph's slips to 1-1.

How it Happened:
- Moshier tallied the lone goal of the opening quarter.
- St. Joe's pulled even in the opening minute of the second, but senior Jenna Stowell (Londonderry, N.H.), Moshier and Hunt scored three straight as the Panthers took a 4-1 lead with 4:15 left before halftime.
- The Monks closed the half with back-to-back goals to cut the deficit to 4-3 heading into the locker room.
- It remained a one-goal advantage through the first half of the third quarter until senior Julia Donovan (Antrim, N.H.) sparked a 4-0 spurt. Graduate student Megan Gaspa (Laconia, N.H.) and Hunt scored 21 seconds apart and Stowell added her second of the day as the lead grew to 8-3 heading to the fourth.
- The Monks scored consecutive goals to start the final stanza, before Hunt answered to make it 9-5 with just over eight minutes to play.
- The visitors scored another pair of goals to make things interesting with more than five minutes left on the clock, but Moshier gave PSU some breathing room and Murphy put the icing on the cake in the final seconds to secure the win.
By the Numbers:
- Moshier finished with three goals and an assist and added five draw controls and a pair of ground balls.
- Hunt chipped in with a hat trick of her own to go with two ground balls.
- Stowell stuffed the stat sheet with game highs of six ground balls and nine draw controls, along with her two goals and a caused turnover.
- Gaspa was outstanding with five caused turnovers to anchor the defense.
- Senior Margie Black (Longmeadow, Mass.) made seven saves to earn the win.
- Plymouth State outshot the Monks by a 34-22 margin.
- The Panthers were 16-of-23 in clears, while St. Joseph's was 19-for-26.
- PSU won the ground ball battle, 28-21, and controlled 14-of-20 draws, including 7-of-8 in the final quarter.
- Plymouth State has won all three meetings between the two teams.
