BRUNSWICK, Maine – Senior
Maddie Hunt (Littleton, Mass.) and graduate student
Elle Moshier (Stratford, Conn.) each scored twice, but Plymouth State University fell to Bowdoin College, 21-6, in non-conference women's lacrosse action at Howard F. Ryan Field on Tuesday afternoon.
Hunt gave PSU an early lead with her first goal just over a minute into the game, but Bowdoin erupted for 16 unanswered goals. Senior
Jenna Stowell (Londonderry, N.H.) ended the streak with a tally in the closing seconds of the second quarter.
The Panthers' defense stepped up in the second half, limiting the Polar Bears to just five goals while scoring four of their own to account for the final margin.
Plymouth State slips to 4-1, while Bowdoin improves to 4-3.

How it Happened:
- Hunt put PSU in front just 1:31 into the game, but Bowdoin responded with ten straight goals to lead 10-1 after the opening quarter.
- The Polar Bears added six more tallies in the second frame before Stowell broke the streak with 21 seconds left in the half.
- Bowdoin carried a 16-2 advantage into the break.
- The Panthers played the hosts even in the second half. Bowdoin scored twice midway through the third, but senior Julia Donovan (Antrim, N.H.) and Moshier answered with goals for PSU.
- The Panthers continued to battle in the final stanza, limiting Bowdoin to three goals. PSU closed the game with back-to-back tallies from Hunt and Moshier to round out the scoring.
By the Numbers:
- Moshier recorded two goals and a ground ball, while Hunt added two tallies and a pair of draw controls.
- Stowell led the team with three ground balls and four draw controls.
- Sophomore Grace Campo (Chelmsford, Mass.) contributed two ground balls.
- Graduate student Megan Gaspa (Laconia, N.H.) chipped in with three draw controls, while junior Katie Moore (Salem, N.H.) had a team-high two caused turnovers.
- The teams were even in ground balls, 11-11.
- Bowdoin held a slight 15-13 edge in draw controls.
- Freshman Keira Walsh (Nashua, N.H.) made three saves while playing the entire second half.
- PSU's only win in the series came during the 2004 season.
