Chase Anestis (Belmont, N.H.) finished fourth at 165 pounds, and graduate student
Ty Miller (Groton, Conn.) placed fifth at 184 pounds as the Plymouth State University wrestling team wrapped up the NCAA Division III Northeast Regional Championship at Wesleyan University on Sunday.
Both wrestlers went 2-0 in Saturday's matches to advance to the semifinals in their respective weight classes.
Anestis opened the day with a loss by decision but rebounded with a major decision victory to reach the third-place match. The clash between the fifth- and sixth-ranked wrestlers in the region was dramatic as Anestis battled to a tiebreak period but fell by riding time.
Miller lost a close decision to one of the nation's top wrestlers in the 184-pound semifinals, then was defeated by fall in the consolation bracket. In the fifth-place match, he secured a second-period pin to claim the final victory of his career.
The Panthers finished the weekend with 31 points, placing 13th out of 18 teams – their best regional finish since the 2011-12 season.
Anestis and Miller wrap up their careers with an outstanding final season.
Anestis ends his season with a 31-4 record with 14 pins. Over the past four years, Anestis has 24 career pins with none allowed and finished with a 70-22 mark.
Miller went 35-11 for the year, registering 16 pins for and just five against this winter. He ends his career with an 81-47 record and 36 pins.

How it Happened:
- Anestis faced CJ Shea of Wesleyan in the semifinals. Shea, ranked No. 7 nationally and No. 2 in the region, earned a 5-1 decision over Anestis.
- In the consolation semifinals, Anestis dominated Fisher Stites of Williams – the region's fourth-ranked 165-pounder – with a huge second period en route to a 10-2 major decision victory, keeping his NCAA Championship hopes alive.
- In the third-place match, where a win would have secured an NCAA Championship berth, Anestis took on Jake Deguire of Springfield, who entered the weekend ranked just ahead of him in the region. The match was tied 1-1 at the end of regulation and remained scoreless through the sudden victory period. Deguire ultimately claimed a one-point win via riding time in the tiebreak period.
- Miller faced top-seeded Sampson Wilkins of VTSU Castleton, ranked No. 1 in the region and No. 5 in the nation, in the semifinals. Wilkins held a narrow 3-2 lead after the first period before securing a third-period takedown to seal a 6-2 decision victory.
- In the consolation semifinals, Miller met Ky'ell Roper of Johnson & Wales but was defeated by fall, dropping him to the fifth-place match.
- Miller then faced Vincent Player of Bridgewater State in a rematch of Saturday's bout, in which he won by a 24-9 technical fall. He was even more dominant in their second meeting, registering a pin in 3:56 to secure fifth place.
