PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Sophomore
Aiden Renner (Phillipsburg, N.J.) set a career high with four goals, and senior
Ethan Schena (Methuen, Mass.) made 14 saves as Plymouth State University dominated Norwich University, 13-1, in a non-conference men's lacrosse game at Panther Field on Tuesday afternoon.
Senior
Crosby Fay (Thornton, N.H.) scored twice in the opening quarter, and Renner's first goal gave the Panthers a 3-0 lead after one. Renner added another in the second as Plymouth State built a 6-0 halftime advantage. A four-goal third quarter extended the lead to 10-0 heading into the final frame.
Renner tacked on two more goals in the fourth quarter, bookending a tally from senior
Ryan Collins (Attleboro, Mass.) and Norwich's lone goal to round out the scoring.
Schena was stellar in net, stopping nine shots in the first half as the Panthers pulled away early.
Plymouth State improves to 2-1, while Norwich drops to 1-3.

How it Happened:
- Fay opened the scoring midway through the first quarter off a perfect feed from senior Shea Clark (North Woburn, Mass.).
- Fay struck again 2:40 later, and Renner made it 3-0 in the final seconds of the quarter.
- Renner notched his second goal just 26 seconds into the second quarter, and senior Ryan Jones (Tolland, Conn.) added back-to-back goals to push the lead to 6-0 before halftime.
- The Panthers kept rolling in the third quarter. Senior Zach Gilvar (Stratham, N.H.) buried his first goal of the season at the midpoint of the frame. Collins and senior Aiden O'Loughlin (Londonderry, N.H.) scored just 41 seconds apart, and Fay completed his hat trick to make it 10-0 after three quarters.
- Renner secured his third goal just 20 seconds into the fourth, and Collins added his second two minutes later.
- Norwich got on the board with 11:15 left, but Renner's fourth goal capped the scoring.
By the Numbers:
- Renner's four-goal performance doubled his previous career high. He also won all three of his faceoff attempts and collected two ground balls.
- Fay recorded a hat trick, while Jones and Collins each scored twice.
- O'Loughlin (one goal, one assist) and junior Cam Jenkins (Shrewsbury, Mass.) had multipoint games. Jenkins tallied two assists.
- Schena made 14 saves on 15 shots for a .933 save percentage.
- The Panthers won 14 of 17 faceoffs, led by senior Leif Charbonneau (North Grafton, Mass.), who went 11-3 and scooped up nine ground balls.
- Senior Jake Lusardo (Norwalk, Conn.) registered six ground balls and three caused turnovers, while sophomore Ryan Lally (Chelmsford, Mass.) also forced three turnovers.
- Plymouth State outshot Norwich 44-28 and held a 26-15 advantage in ground balls.
- The Panthers excelled in transition, completing 22 of 25 clears.
- Plymouth State has dominated the all-time series, winning 19 of 21 meetings.
