PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Freshman Amelia Avery (Campton, N.H.) was named Little East Conference (LEC) Field Hockey Rookie of the Week as the league announced its weekly awards on Monday.

Avery earned the honor after scoring two goals in a 1-1 week for the Panthers.

Avery scored in the fourth quarter at New England College on Tuesday, cutting the PSU deficit to 3-2 with just over five minutes to play, though the Pilgrims held on for the narrow win. She added a second-quarter goal in Plymouth State's 7-1 win over UMass Boston on Saturday, helping the Panthers remain unbeaten in conference play.

Avery has scored in each of the last three games, and her four goals are tied for the second-most among conference rookies.

Plymouth State (3-9, 2-0 LEC) hosts UMaine Farmington in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday (Oct. 13) at 4 p.m.
