NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Freshman
Jorja Moore (Penticton, British Columbia) made 32 saves, but No. 3 Norwich University used a three-goal second period to defeat Plymouth State University, 4-0, in a Little East Conference (LEC) women's ice hockey game at Kreitzberg Arena on Friday night.
Moore held her own in the first period, making 11 saves in the stanza to keep the game scoreless through the first intermission. Norwich caught a break early in the second when a blocked shot rebounded directly to a Cadets skater in front, and the hosts added two more goals to take a commanding 3-0 lead.
Norwich added an insurance goal in the third to account for the final margin.
Plymouth State falls to 12-12-0 (6-11-0 LEC) and heads into the regular season finale needing a point and a Keene State regulation loss to secure the No. 5 seed in next week's LEC Tournament. Norwich, ranked third in this week's USCHO.com poll, improves to 22-2-0 (17-0-0 LEC).

How it Happened:
- Moore made 11 saves in the first period as the Panthers held Norwich off the board to keep the game scoreless through the first intermission.
- Norwich broke through 1:16 into the second when a rebound off a blocked shot was flipped into the top-left corner to make it 1-0.
- The Cadets doubled the lead midway through the frame when a pass through the slot found an open skater at the back post.
- Norwich carried a 3-0 lead into the second intermission after scoring in the final minute of the period.
- The hosts extended the lead to 4-0 at the 5:46 mark of the third, and the Panthers were unable to rally.

- Junior Jamie Steinmetz (Madison, Wis.) blocked four shots, while classmate Grace Bonnell (Madison, Wis.) blocked three.
- Junior Laura Castronova (Hauppauge, N.Y.) fired a team-high four shots.
- Moore finished with 32 saves and has reached the 30-save mark in five of her 10 starts this season.
- Plymouth State finished 0-for-4 on the power play, while Norwich went 0-for-3.
- The Cadets held a 36-19 edge in shots.
- Norwich remains unbeaten (39-0-0) all-time against the Panthers.
