NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Plymouth State University men's and women's indoor track & field teams both experienced slight drops in their regional rankings as the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released its second Track & Field Rating Index (TFRI) of the season this week.
The women fell from 14th to 19th in the East Region with 26.29 points, while the men slid one spot to 21st with 24.71 points.
Freshman
Madison Geddes (Penacook, N.H.) had the Panthers' top regionally ranked performance at last weekend's Husky Invitational at Southern Maine, as her winning time of 2:28.38 in the 800 meters ranks 24th in the East Region. Junior
Abby Bergeron (Essex, Vt.), who finished runner-up by just 0.44 seconds, ranks 28th in the event, while sophomore
Ani Flynn (Plymouth, N.H.) posted a time of 1:02.67 in the 400 meters to rank 30th regionally.
None of the men's competitors recorded performances that ranked within the region's top 35 last weekend.
The TFRI is a complex mathematical system used as the benchmark to rank collegiate track and field teams since 2008.
Plymouth State heads to the TRACK at new balance for the River Hawk Invitational, hosted by UMass Lowell, this weekend. The women will compete on Friday (Feb. 6), followed by the men on Saturday (Feb. 7).
