KEENE, N.H. – Freshman
Karina Bosco (North Dighton, Mass.) scored four goals for the second straight game and Plymouth State University cut a five-goal deficit down to one, but Keene State College held on late to edge the Panthers, 12-10, in a Little East Conference (LEC) women's lacrosse game at Owl Athletic Complex on Saturday.
The teams traded goals through the first quarter until a late Owls goal gave the hosts a 4-3 lead after one. The Owls opened the second with four straight goals to extend the lead to 8-3. Plymouth State began to chip away, and Bosco's back-to-back goals late in the third quarter cut the deficit to 10-9 entering the fourth.
Keene State scored early in the frame, but junior
Sammy Murphy (Harrisville, R.I.) responded with 8:08 left to play. The Owls added an insurance goal just over a minute later, and PSU was unable to rally.
Plymouth State falls to 5-9 (3-4 LEC), while the Owls improve to 6-9 (3-3 LEC).

How it Happened:
- Bosco erased a pair of one-goal deficits in the first half of the opening quarter.
- The Owls went ahead, 3-2, with just over five minutes left, but PSU answered again as freshman Evelyn Goudreau (Topsham, Maine) scored.
- Keene State regained the lead in the closing minutes of the first, then scored the first four goals of the second to build an 8-3 advantage.
- Sophomore Gracie Menicci (Pepperell, Mass.) and freshman Olivia Thibert (Dighton, Mass.) scored back-to-back goals, but the hosts answered just before halftime to take a 9-5 lead into the break.
- Freshman Grace Hoover (Salem, N.H.) and Goudreau opened the third quarter with consecutive goals to pull within 9-7. After the Owls answered, Bosco scored twice in a span of 1:11 to bring PSU within 10-9 entering the fourth.
- Keene State restored the two-goal margin early in the fourth, but Murphy answered midway through the frame. The Owls added an insurance goal with 6:47 left to play, and PSU could not rally.

- The Owls held a 21-13 advantage in shots and edged the Panthers in ground balls, 21-18.
- Plymouth State leads the all-time series, 34-11.
