BOSTON, Mass. – Senior
Brendan Flynn (Arlington, Mass.) had four hits and Plymouth State University scored seven first-inning runs in game two, but the University of Massachusetts Boston rallied in the middle innings and then held off a late comeback attempt to sweep PSU in a Little East Conference (LEC) doubleheader at Monan Park on Saturday.
In the opener, Flynn and graduate student
Connor Dobson (South Portland, Maine) had two hits apiece, but the Beacons took a first-inning lead and never looked back to defeat the Panthers, 11-0, in seven innings.
PSU's first six batters reached base to open game two and freshman
Owen Webber (Bow, N.H.) delivered a three-run triple as the Panthers raced out to a 7-0 lead. The Beacons chipped away, though, pulling ahead in the middle innings and holding off a ninth-inning rally to edge the Panthers, 11-9. Flynn added another two hits, including a double, and scored three runs in the setback.
