PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Three members of the Plymouth State University baseball program were honored by College Sports Communicators for their academic achievements on Tuesday, as the CSC Academic All-District Teams were announced.
Senior
Ray Campbell (Torrington, Conn.) and juniors
Sam Salvi (Southborough, Mass.) and
Ryan Morgado (Brentwood, N.H.) were each recognized.
Academic All-District honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot, where First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in late-June.
To be eligible for Academic All-District recognition, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically and must maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average. Student-athletes must also compete in 90 percent or start in at least 66 percent of an institution's games played, while pitchers must have made at least 17 appearances or pitched 35 innings. Institutions are limited to a maximum of five nominees.
Andy Theriault, who was named interim coach on April 7 before being elevated head coach less than a month later, guided the Panthers to four of the team's five wins. Plymouth State ended the season with a 5-26 overall record, including a 3-13 mark in the Little East Conference, finishing just two games shy of a postseason spot.
