PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Freshman Maya Sanzone (South Berwick, Maine) earned two Little East Conference (LEC) honors following her collegiate debut, the league announced on Tuesday.
 
Sanzone was recognized as the LEC Women's Cross Country Runner and Rookie Runner of the Week after helping the Panthers to a third-place finish at the NCAA Regional Preview hosted by Bates College on Saturday.
 
Sanzone was the top finisher for the Panthers, placing 14th in a field of 104 runners after completing the 3.34k course in 12:44.1. Her time was the second-fastest among all first-year runners and just four seconds shy of a top-10 time.
 
The Panthers return to action on Sept. 19 for the UMass Dartmouth Invitational. The women's 6k is set for noon.
