WATERVILLE VALLEY, N.H. - Sophomore Desiree Biron
(Bow, N.H.) and freshman Kelly Rose Losi (Milton, Mass.) scored two
goals apiece Friday evening to lead Saint Michael's College to an
8-0 victory over Plymouth State University in the ECAC Women's East
Ice Hockey opener for both teams at Waterville Valley Ice Arena.
The Purple Knights out-shot the Panthers 19-2 in the first period,
but it was 0-0 on the scoreboard. Biron scored twice for SMC
in the first five minutes of the second period, sandwiched around a
goal by junior Amy Schoon (Southborough, Mass.), to give the
visitors a 3-0 lead. Rose Losi added her two goals in the
second half of the second period, and freshman Emily Paquin (Bowie,
Md.) made it 6-0 with a goal with 2:30 remaining in the middle
frame.
Sophomore Alexis Regan (Canton, Mass.) and senior Leslie Pomponi
(Belmont, Mass.) rounded out the scoring in the third period.
Junior Jess Tourville (Baltimore, Vt.) collected four assists on
the evening for St. Mikes, and sophomore Meghan Sweezey (Lynnfield,
Mass.) added three assists.
PSU junior goalie Lindsay DeLorie (Holliston,
Mass.) had a busy night in the Panther goal and finished with 56
saves as SMC out-shot the Panthers, 56-8.
Both teams are back in action with an ECAC East game on Saturday,
PSU hosting Norwich University (6:00 p.m.) and Saint Michael's
visiting Castleton State (7:00 p.m.)
