WORCESTER, Mass. - Freshman Louise Hillen
(Minnetonka, Minn.) scored her first two collegiate goals Tuesday
night as the Holy Cross women's hockey team defeated Plymouth State
University, 7-1, in an ECAC Women's East Conference game at the
Hart Center.
The Crusaders improve to 3-1-1 overall (2-1-0 ECAC), while the
Panthers fall to 0-3-0 (0-3-0 ECAC). PSU did get on the board with
its first goal of the season.
The Crusaders jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Hillen knocked in the
puck from in front of the net. Junior Stephanie Couzin (Chicago,
Ill.) increased the Holy Cross lead to 2-0 when she fired in her
own rebound.
Plymouth State made it a 2-1 game at 3:41 into the second period
when junior Amanda Kreamer (Lynn, Mass.) scored a
power play goal on a slap shot from just inside the blue line.
Sophomore Alyssa Hovanec (Marlborough, Conn.) and
freshman Elizabeth Murray (Woburn, Mass.) picked
up assists on the play. Freshman Colleen Krmpotich
(Minneapolis, Minn.) netted her first collegiate goal to give Holy
Cross a two-goal lead back (3-1) at the end of two periods.
Sophomore Kathryn Kelley (Dedham, Mass.) increased the Holy Cross
lead to 4-1 at 6:19 into the third period. Freshman Christina
D'Ambrogio (Toronto, Ontario) made it a 5-1 game at the 11:41 mark
with her first collegiate goal. Senior Allie DeAngelis
(Framingham, Mass.) scored a power play goal at 17:21, while Hillen
netted her second goal of the game at 18:19 for the 7-1 final.
Holy Cross freshman goalie Monique Gallant (Antigonish, Nova
Scotia) made seven saves in the first two periods to earn the win
and improve to 3-1-1 on the season, while freshman Alicia Lew
(Brookline, Mass.) stopped three shots in the third period.
Junior Lindsay DeLorie (Holliston, Mass.) had
another busy night in the Panther goal, stopping 65 shots. The
Crusaders outshot the Panthers by a 72-11 margin, while each team
went 1-7 on the power play.
The Crusaders return to action next Tuesday, Nov. 27, when they
travel to New London, Conn., to take on Connecticut College (7:00
p.m.) The Panthers are back on the ice in 10 days, Friday,
Nov. 30, with an ECAC East contest against the University of
Southern Maine at Waterville Valley Ice Arena (6:00 p.m.)
