RYE, N.Y. - The Manhattanville College women's ice
hockey team scored eight goals in the second period Friday night en
route to tallying double-digit goals for the first time this season
as the Valiants defeated Plymouth State University 11-0 in ECAC
Women's East Conference action at the Playland Ice Casino.
The Valiants, ranked seventh in this week's Division III Women's
national poll, improved to 5-2-0 overall and 4-1-0 in the ECAC
East, while the Panthers are still looking for their first win of
the season after six tries. PSU is a second-year varsity
program in its first year in the ECAC East.
Senior Lyndsay Letourneau (Lewiston, Maine) scored her first career
goal in the third period to cap Manhattanville's scoring surge
which saw the Valiants bombard Plymouth State goalie Lindsay
DeLorie (Holliston, Mass.) with 54 shots. Letourneau also
assisted on two goals for a career high three-points.
As many as 13 Valiants registered at least one point, with eight
earning multi-point games. Danielle Mazurek (Eaglesham,
Alberta) put together an impressive night with a goal and a
career-high four assists. Danielle Nagymarosi (Uxbridge,
Ontario) and Monique Rafferty (Clifton Park, N.Y.) each scored
twice and Nagymarosi added an assist.
The teams will play again Saturday in a matinee rematch; the puck
drops at 3:00 p.m. at the Playland Ice Casino.
